Project Case: A 12 × 16-meter steel frame structure in Australia, built on the basis of recycled containers.

 

Primary Structure – The Robust Skeleton
Main Steel Frame (H-Beams) H-shaped steel sections are used for the main beams and columns. H-beams offer high bending strength and an economical cross-section, serving as the core load-bearing components of the structure.
Corrosion Protection All primary steel members are treated with "red lead primer" as the base coat and "mild-grey alkyd paint" as the topcoat, providing excellent rust resistance and durability to ensure the longevity of the main structure.
Enclosure and Secondary Structure – The Lightweight Skin
Roof and Wall System Cladding 0.5mm thick AZ150 aluzinc corrugated sheets are used. This material offers outstanding corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and service life, making it an ideal choice for industrial buildings.
Insulation 75mm thick glass wool is installed to effectively reduce heat transfer, maintaining a comfortable interior temperature year-round and lowering energy consumption.
Purlins Galvanized C150×1.8mm C-purlins are used for their lightweight and anti-corrosion properties, providing support for the roof and wall panels.
Container Units 20-foot containers which can be repurposed as offices, equipment rooms, storage areas, or lounges, offering flexible usage.
Connections and Stabilization System – The Strong Joints
Foundation Connection M24×850mm anchor bolts are used to securely fasten the steel columns to the concrete foundation, resisting wind loads and seismic forces.
Joint Connections High-Strength Bolts Critical load-bearing joints in the primary structure use Grade 10.9S M20 and Grade 8.8S M16 high-strength bolts, providing exceptional connection strength and shear resistance.
Standard Bolts Secondary structural connections use Grade 4.8S M12 bolts for general fastening requirements.
Stabilization System Wall and roof bracing systems, along with Φ12 round steel tie rods, act as the "ligaments" of the structure, forming a spatially stable system that effectively resists lateral forces and prevents deformation.
Detailing and Finishing – The Refined Touch
1. All trims, flashings, and ridge caps are color-matched to the roof sheeting, ensuring a unified and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
2. Specialized screws, rivets, silicone sealants, and other accessories are used to guarantee the weathertight integrity of the roof and walls, preventing water leakage.
3. Φ110 downpipes are installed to complete the building’s drainage system.
